A Polish PRS receiver

The GALILEO programme for the construction of a global satellite navigation system is the largest industrial programme underway within the EU, fully independent of other, existing GNSS systems (Regulation (EU) No. 1285/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 December 2013 on the implementation and exploitation of European satellite navigation systems and repealing Council Regulation (EC) No. 876/2002 and Regulation (EC) No. 683/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council).

  • Hertz Systems is involved in conceptual works for the European Space Agency associated with the second generation satellites constellation project, which are to be put in orbit between 2022 and 2030. In the future, the Galileo system is to offer more accuracy than GPS and GLONASS, with an error radius of approx. 1 m on an open frequency and approx. 10 cm on a paid frequency.
  • A restricted signal known as the Public Regulated Services (PRS) will be available for institutional users, emergency services and the military. Hertz Systems is one of the few companies in NATO, which are able to integrate the SAASM (Selective Availability Anti-Spoofing Module) cryptographic module with a GPS receiver. This provides grounds to attempt to develop these abilities, which are key in terms of defence, within the scope of the European Galileo system.
  •   Since 2015 Hertz Systems has been pursuing a PRS receiver development programme for Public Services.
